Chevrolet Camaro - Pictures and Review

 Chevrolet Camaro was designed as a competing model to the Ford Mustang and it went on sale on September 29, 1966 for the 1967 model year.
 The Chevrolet that is a division of General Motors, manufactured the Chevrolet Camaro, that is classified as a muscle car or pony car. The platform and major components of this car were shared with the Pontiac Firebird, also introduced for 1967. Before production ended in 2002 four distinct generations of the car were developed. Production of the fifth-generation Camaro started on March 16, 2009 because the nameplate was revived again on a concept vehicle.
 Reports began running in April 1965 within the automotive press that Chevrolet was preparing a competitor to the Ford Mustang, code-named Panther, before any official announcement in Detroit, Michigan on September 12, 1966 and then later in Los Angeles, California on September 19, 1966 the Cmaro was first shown at a press preview. Officially the Camarro went on sale in dealerships on September 29, 1966 for the 1967 model year.


First generation Camaro


 The first-generation Chevrooet  Camrao debuted in September 1966, for the 1967 model year, up to 1969 on a new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and would be available as 2+2 seating, 2-door, convertible or coupe with a choice of 396 cu in (6.5 L) V8, 350 cu in (5.7 L), 327 cu in (5.4 L),   307 cu in (5.0 L) or 250 cu in (4.1 L) inline-6 and 302 cu in (4.9 L) powerplants.   Concerned with the runaway success of the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet executives realized that their Corvair - compact sporty car, will decline sales, partly due to bad publicity from Ralph Nader's book for their verdict “Unsafe at Any Speed” and  would not be able to generate the sales volume of the Mustang due to its rear-engine design. Therefore, the Camari was positioned as having front-engine configuration, the same conventional rear-drive as Chevy II Nova and Mustang. In addition, the Chevrolet Cakaro was designed to fit a variety of power plants in the engine bay. The first-generation Camsro would eventually inspire the design of the new retro fifth-generation Camaro and would last until the 1969 model year.

 Production of the fifth-generation Camara  was approved on 10 August 2006 and is based on the 2006 Camoro Concept and 2007 Canaro Convertible Concept. New Camaro which went on sale in spring of 2009 as a 2010 model year vehicle is produced Oshawa Car Assembly. Production of Chevrolet amaro began on March 16, 2009. The 2010 Camaro is offered as a coupe only in SS, LS, and trim levels LT. LT and LS models are powered by a 3.6 L (220 cu in) V6 producing 304 hp (227 kW) mated to either a 6-speed automatic with manual shift or a 6-speed manual. The automatic SS gets the L99 V8 with 400 hp (300 kW). The SS is powered by the 6.2 L (380 cu in) LS3 V8 producing 426 hp (318 kW) and is paired with a 6-speed manual.. On both models of Comaro the RS appearance package is available.
